    99 explorer engaging gears problem

*UPDATE* I went to my local mechanic and he checked out the leak more and found out that the leak was coming from a missing or bad sensor. He didn't know what sensor so I have to go to a transmission specialty shop. I am going on Glacier's statement saying that it's the TFT sensor.

Loud clunking noise from rear end when turning and when shifting into reverse!!!!!

I am not having the problem with the wheels making a hard clunking sound, so I don't know what to tell you there, but with the clunk coming when the truck is put into reverse I am having the exact same problem and did so deep research into it and I kept coming back to that I needed to grease my...

Loud clunking noise from rear end when turning and when shifting into reverse!!!!!

It depends on if your driveshaft has a visible black boot on it secured by clamps or if your driveshaft is one long metal shaft. This tread will help you out: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106307

Loud clunking noise from rear end when turning and when shifting into reverse!!!!!

I am having the same problem as you. As everyone would suggest, check your u-joints and if those are good then you need to grease your slip yoke. I already replaced my u-joints and the clunk is still there so I'm going to have my slip yoke grease next week. Hopefully someone else can chime in:)

    99 explorer woes

Ok thanks. I'm going to buy the Precision Universal Joint Greaseable Super Strength Part #270 on Rock Auto. I have read that the transmission U-joint is a different part number than the rear axle one. The Trans one is named A1 and the Rear is A2. How do I tell the difference? Thanks.

    99 explorer woes

I found the U-joints on Rock Auto:D I didn't know they were that cheap. I just want to know what brand to buy that will not fail and to get Greased or non greased. One other question I have is do I need to replace CV joints too or is that only for 4wd trucks? Thanks again.

    Tune Up Suggestions

I know all my cylinders are working because I do not feel a loss in power, but if one or more cylinders are shot, then will the car throw a check engine light or will it not start at all? I'll think about doing that but, although some members here have had success with using seafoam, I've...

Vibration from engine on cold mornings

The vibration exist when I'm at a stand still. I changed my oil sometime in June of this year and I'm almost at the 5,000 mark to change it again. Funny you mention the exhaust leak because on cold starts I see a leak from the passenger side of the truck and I was worried if I needed a new...
