Transfer Case Assembly Question

I just want to post a thank you for all the help I received here. I am very greatful, for all of the support. I would have never finished or even attempted this repair without all the information I learned from this forum. I installed my transfer case yesterday. I filled it and the transmission with new fluid and a bottle of Lucas Transmission additive. The truck drove wonderful! It shifts nice and crisp at the correct time and locations. The tranfer case shifts into and out of 4WD perfectly as well. I am a very happy camper! I honestly believe the only real issue with my Explorer was the broken shift fork in the transfer case, but I now have a completely rebuild valve body with all of the upgrades. With any luck this truck should be well behaved for the next couple of years or so. Thanks again!

BB: Thanks, I will do my best. Took the first extended freeway drive yesterday up to Oakland. Absolutely no issues and got much better gas milage than ever before, averaged 23.4 mpg @ 75 mph!:D Note: I also performed the ONP M0012 update on Monday morning. What a difference the new intake O-rings made. Anyone that has not performed this update is really missing out. I have some more assembly pictures that I will add to my photo gallery for everyones reference.

I'm looking forward to a thread on this. You could organize the pictures with a step by step explaination, and make a diary of it. Maybe it will be a sticky?

I will give it a shot, no promisses though. I have my project car on jack stands in the garage next to the wife's Explorer. Now that her's is finished she wants mine fixed, so that she or more likely I can clean up the garage. Point to note, all you single guys out there, stay just that or find a wife that is willing to work on cars with you. Boy do I wish I would have waited for one of them.:p:

I can tell you why that snap ring is not there - or I think I can - they replaced it with a THICK torrington that acts as a spacer too.

Glacier:

Thanks, it was still bothering me why the manual was incorrect. My wife has put almost 7,000 miles on the truck now and we have had no issues so far. Hopefully, it will make it another 50,000 or so. That would make me happy.
