1997 Explorer sport....my transfer case needs to be replaced. I found a great deal on a newer case (1999) that only has 5K miles on it.
Here is the question: My case is a 4405- F77A with the VSS sensor, the other case is a XL24 without the VSS. I know I need the VSS for the speedo to work, but is this the only difference in these 2 cases? What I was thinking about doing was replacing the back of the XL24 case with my case then I would still have the VSS. Will this work? Are both insides the same?
I can get this other TC for $200! Salvage yards want 500+ for cases with over 100K on them
