The process went well and happy with the results. Finally made myself install the flow matched injectors from 2020. I had purchased a 1" spacer in 2016 but sold it. I finally took the plunge and reviewed the helpful thread: 1" Heat Spacer Install- 5.0 GT-40 ( Upper Plennum Removal and Replacement) for install tips.

Overall to me the half inch spacer made more sense since I re-used the stock bolts. The intake manifold is cooler and I got the new fuel injectors installed. Post install the suv idles like new.

I was going to get rid of this explorer in 2016 but decide to major re-haul the suspension + do plugs and coils. Now again I thought about selling in 2024 but decided to revamp the nags. New condenser, compressor, orifice, radiator and interior LED lights.

Well along with the flow matched new fuel injectors, new idle pulleys, and upper intake spacer.

The factory Bolts are
Long enough for 1/2” spacer? Woweee! Learn something new each day

Thanks for sharing, these trucks will reward you

Yes, I put the long stock bolts next to the ones that came with the kit and they were the same. I used the stock bolts except for the rear left bolt. The coil bracket does end up being lifted so only one of its three nuts attach but two of the bolts hold the orientation so it does not spin.

Removing the upper intake is really easy. I wish I had done that years ago when tackling the PCV valve.

Nice work! I like that when I raise
My hood to check things out the upper intake is only warm to the touch ;)
