00 XLT 4x4

New to the board...just bought a 00 XLT 4x4 with 23K in great condition for 17K. It has the 4.0 OHV and 3.73 rear end. Came with a Class 3 hitch and was a little debate over whether or not it had a towing pkg...i think not. Would like to know from those of you who own similar what your thoughts/feelings are. Have an 18' bass boat seems to pull great. Book says it is good to tow up to about 4900 and imagine that is with a ball! Any problems with the engine or other parts?

Glammick, are you sure you have the OHV? I'm pretty sure the SOHC is standard in the 2000 XLT.

Jason, I saw a 2000 on Ebay with a OHV, it was wierd. Anyways he might have it.

i bought a 2000 4x4 new and there was a choice if you wanted the OHV but that only put out like 190 horses and then there was the SOHC that put out 210 and i got the SOHC. and about the hitch is it like the standard towing package from the dealer? i just put a hiden hitch on mine, and that is great i don't have to worry about pulling the stupid bumper off.

Jason - I'm with you I thought they eliminated the ohv engine in 2000, but it might have been 2001.

No I'm positive it is the OHV...160 HP. My dad has a 99 with the SOHC and its not the same. Bought it from a dealer so would it be your guess that prior owner just pust a class 3 hitch on?

OHV still exsisted in 2000. . . .I've got one too.
