2001 Eddie Bauer 4.0l
Hi all,

Thanks for letting me join this well informed message board/forum !!!!!!!
I have a 4WD issue....if anyone could help?
2001 Eddie Bauer 4.0 has electronic 4wd, well the other day I got in and turned the four wheel drive on in preparation for the winter season, and back tires just spun, I tried 4lo it clunks in but nothing. Although, when the switch is in 4 Hi, on snowy roads the back tires will spin the truck will pick up speed then the four wheel drive kicks in, but when I stop its out of 4 wd again. It seems like the more rpms or if I stay on the gas the 4wd stays in, loose those rpms take foot off gas loose 4wd...
Any ideas would be greatful, and helpful!!!!!!

Thanks a bunch !!!!!

Welcome to the forum!

When this occurs, what position is the switch in? 4x4 auto or 4x4 high?

That was quick.

Hey thanks for responding!!!

This happens when it is in 4 Hi, as far as 4lo it probably does the same thing, but does not engage in Auto.

Thanks!!

No I have not, and honestly being as handy as I think I am,
I would have to ask, how I would check to see if the shift motor is turning to the correct position? And if its not is there a inexpensive cure?

Do you think that it could be vacuum line?
