i put in a bi xenon kit and its a nice hi/lo combo. but when i put on the hi beams my light output is complete crap. im wondering if that little plastic cover in the headlights over the front of the bulb is the culprit to this and if removing it will negativly affect my light output?

you can see the high beams arent throwing as much light, i think its because the bulb gets further into that plastic shroud.

kinda would like to to know the same thing but from your pics it looks like when you have your high beams on your lights shine lower than when your low beams are on. so are your wires hooked up right i have heard that the plug and play kits for the 9007's are sent wired for the 9004's bulbs so the wires may need to be switched

its possible. the high beam seems to spread a bit wider than the low beams do.

also i was on the site that sold me the kit today and they said that removing the plastic cap wont affect the focus point of the lights. so im not sure if anyone has removed it here or not and can confirm this or not

not to sure about it i will find out when i get my headlight and fog light hid kit for my 01 i will let you know if i have the same problem. what kit did you order

sounds good. i got the vvme bi xenon kit, 6000k

Seems like I remember reading a couple of posts that other vvme users had the high & low beams reversed. The bulbs were set up for the 9004 type which uses the opposite wires for high & low. They had to switch the wires around.
Just a thought...

I've been hearing more and more problems about VVME's stuff lately . . .

Tom

yeah including problems from me, ive got a post about it in this section. about to make an update to it.

your probably right. the bulb are a 9004 bulb and have a ring that goes onto them that turns them into a 9007. so that would make sense as to why the high beams make less light.

I think the diections included with the lights show the different types of applications for 9007 & 9004. Since most all asian cars use 9004 the lights are probable set up that way.

uchi, did you ever remove that plasctic cover that is over the bulb i just installed the vvme kit today and my lighting problem is the same as yours i will have to switch the wires in the morning but on my 01 sport i am getting really bad scattered lighting kinda like in your picks would removing that plactic reflector help this out

its not just the vvme kits, almost all of them you have to switch the hi/lo, i dont remember which wires it was but it wasn't just switching the actual high beam and low beam wire

ok fixed the hi/lo problem but just wondering of i would bet a different light pattern if i remove that little reflector in front of the bulb to try to eliminate some off the scattered lighting

realistically you should get a better light spread if you remove the plastic thing. the bulb moves in and out of the housing and the plastic cover is only obstructing the light output. that being said the reflective plastic in the headlamps will create alot of the blotchy lighting problems were having which is another reason why a retrofit is the way to go. i found my hi and low beams didnt offer much difference in light spread just in blochyness so i just drive with the highs on and for the few days the kit worked i didnt have an issue with peopel flashing me. even my gf said they werent bad when i was behind her car

did you end up taking that little reflector infront of the bulb off on you sport

uchi how many k r ur hids 6000k or 8000k or 4300k or what

6000k. i wanted a bit of a tint to them as my last set were 5000 k and were super white, like annoying white but oh so bright. so driving a larger vehicle i figured id atleast offer a little bit of curtesy to my fellow driver and go to a less briight light :)

havent takent the plastic thing out. its my impression that for me to remove it i need to bake my lights to remove the glue olding them together right? if not them ill take the plastic thing out this weekend when i put in my new ballast and harness and see if it makes a difference

i was looking at the headlight today and i think i can be broken off without taking the housing apart by taking some needle nose pliers and and snap it off through where the bulbs hole is and turn housing upside down and let the piece fall out let me know what you end up doing if it works i will do that mod too
