Hey guys

I have been noticing this but i havent had time to post it but i am going to post it now. Lately my 01 sport has been rattling when i am on idle like when i am at a red light it makes a clinging and rattling noise. At first i thought it was my dual flowmasters hitting the bumper but i lowered my flowmasters. So i am just wondering what causing the rattling.

Also lately my explorer sounds like when i am at a red light to it sound like its going to die out and it rev's like 2,000 rpm over and over and it sound like its going to die out. i was thinkin making a need a tuneup or need spark plugs or idle control valve or glow plugs. i dunno what causing it. its been awhile since i driven the explorer. for the past few days i have been driving the explorer. the nissan right now is sitting in driveway cause i need a brake flush and a new serpentine belt.

And then lately i know my passenger rear window is broken the latch broke but when i am acceratting my car sounds like it has a supercharger in it so i am wondering what is causing that sound as well. i am just thinkin its probably the window cause its open a lil bit since the latch broke and its making that noise but i might be wrong. my gf and my friends say it sounds like a supercharger and some of my friends say it makes like a siren sound but i hear it and it to me it makes a whining sound like a supercharger.

thnx

sam

Yeah I was jk'ing about the flowmasters, what you're experiencing is probably this

or sometimes I know the platinum honeycombs get loose in the cats. I have a cat making that noise right now as well. Either way it's not that big of a deal, but cats are expensive to replace so hopefully it's the heat shields.

Do you know a smog shop guy? If you do, then go ahead and install 49 state converters. Your buddy should pass you on the manual inspection, since the PPM sensor will pass your tail pipe. The readings might be on the high end of the spectrum, but you'll still pass.

By the way, you can probably find universal fit, 49 state converters on eBay. Just walk into a muffler shop with them in your hand, and most of them will install them with no questions asked.

what are heat shields and what do they do

Heat shields are there to deflect &eat away from the floors(in a nut shell)... some are metal, some are "fiberglass" there near the rear axle..

ok i will check it out

today i opened up my hood i noticed when i put the new air filter i didnt latch it all the way up and now its fully latched and i didnt notice the rattling sound and it wasnt reving over and over and it didnt sound like it wasnt dying out either.

but i need to put some oil in its getting lil bit low in it.
