I think I need to find relay box 4, no power to trailer running lights (tail Lights)
Vehicle is loaded with equipment, and trailer is connected.
Where specifically is that in a Sport Trac?

Thanks

2001 Service manual says the trailer tow relay in in Aux. Relay Box 2, under dash, left side. It does not list a Box 4.

Check first:

If you don't have an Owners Manual to look up the fuse diagram you can get it online here:

Thanks, My glovebox owners manual only shows the fuse box and the underhood fuse and relay center that has the left and right turn relays. Elsewhere there are descriptions
of a relay box 4 at the left rear wheel well or jack compartment. But did'nt know where to look in a Sport Trac. Your description sounds like the correct relay location, I'll go check it out. I'll post my results.

Relay box 2 is located above the gas pedal. The trailer tail light relay is located in the lower right corner.
On my Sport Trac there are at least three of these smaller relays installed in unused locations of relay box 1 (underhood).

The relay functions normally, clicks on with lights - swapped with fog lamps
relay to verify.

When measuring more closely at the trailer connector, a voltage of 1.7 vdc
is present when the lights are turned on.
So it seems that it is connection or wiring related.

Working from the trailer connector forward, in the wiring harness I exposed
enough to reveal a corroded section, restoration of this returned the voltage
to normal.

Thanks for your help, nice to know where the aux relays and fuses are for
trailer circuits.

Congrats! Glad you got it fixed!

Where is the relay for 4x4 motor?

What's the date of manufacture on your 2002? There's a before and after date of 2/18/2002.

Edit: No relay I see, all fuses to the control module.

The mfg date on the sport trac is 04/02 this is for the location of the 4x4 relay. Thankx

Check the fuses listed above and if they're all good i can look up the diagnostics for you.

power door locks

2001 Sport Trac, Job 2 4x4, 4.0. , date of mfr 9/00 (per the tag on driver's door)

First post, so be gentle!! If it needs to be moved, please do so, and my apologies!

While trying to fix one problem (fuel pump intermittent on prime - and it's looking more and more like the fuel pump as I go on) I seem to have created another problem......power door locks are not functioning. Interior switches are not working at all, other than to hear what sounds like a relay clicking somewhere under the dash, passenger side, when depressed. The locks will unlock via keypad and keyfob, but not lock. Actuators seem to be functioning since I can unlock. Driver's door switch seems to test OK. Am thinking relays.....but the location of these relays seems to be something of a state secret!! The Haynes doesn't acknowledge them at all. Wiring schematics available thru Auto Zone would indicate that there are 3...where are they??

I did locate Auxiliary Box 2, thanks to info provided by ncranchero, which identifies a driver unlock relay...problem is, that relay isn't physically there. Where that relay should be there is a space...but no contacts to accept a relay!!

So where are the power lock relays? IN an F-150 post on a FordForum site, they are located in that vehicle under a service panel in the dash. The Sport Trac doesn’t have that panel…but does have a defroster grill panel….might they be under there? The clicking sound mentioned above does seem to be from that area.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
