02 Expl Sport Rear Axle question

Yesterday, I noticed a hose hanging down on the drivers side rear axle area of my daughters 2002 Expl Sport. Last night, I found that it is a black, rubber hose, apporx. 1/4" dia. and 18-24" long. It is attached on the top, drivers side of the rear axle. In looking around the area, it doesn't appear to have a corresponding attach point. It looks as though it is a "vent" or "drain" hose. It doesn't have any markings on the "open" end that would indicate it attaches anywhere else. I stuffed it up above the spare tire so it wouldn't drag on the ground until I can find how what it is and where/how I can secure it where it belongs. Can someone help me here? Thanks

It's just a breather tube, and there should be a small clip it goes to. It's on the frame, on my '93.

Thanks. That makes sense but I couldn't track where it attached to. Of course, it was 10:00 at night. I looked at an older model Expl in my work parking lot today, located the hose and basically where it goes. I will re-attach tonight. I have a friend here at work who drives a 93 Expl and I shared with him this issue and your answer. You got two for one today. Thanks again.
