02 Explorer EB towing hitch size...

Does anyone know what size the receiver is on these? It's a slow day at work and my car is at a satellite lot. I dont really have anything to tow so I thought I would shop on Amazon and buy a hitch cover.

There are 2 sizes, there is a 1-1/4" and a 2" hitch, usually the V8's came with the 2", the V6's came with the 1-1/4", but that isn't guaranteed...

This was an aftermarket add-on hitch (bottom), but gives you an idea of the size comparison.

All Explorer came with a class II hitch std, that is the 1 1/4" version. A class III hitch package could have been ordered, this gave you a 2" class III hitch receiver and some engine cooling equipment, depending on year and engine/trans combo.

Do you have any more info on this? My 03 V6 has the 2" receiver. And every explorer I have parked next to sits lower by about 2" and mines all stock. I dunno..

My 2002 Explorer Eddie Bauer V6 has a 2" receiver & has a Oil & Transmission cooler. they look like little radiator cant miss them look under & on top you'll see them if you have them
