Hello and thanks in advance for any help.
I have a 2002 Explorer Eddie Bauer. My Explorer had a six disc factory radio and I installed an aftermarket JVC radio. The new radio works fine but now the instrument lights (i.e. speedometer, tach, etc) do not work and the interior (overhead) lights do not work when you open the door. The interior lights do work when you press the buttons near them to turn them on.
I have checked all of the fuses under the dash and under the hood. All fuses are in working order. The radio is working fine and is hooked up correctly. I had a technician at a radio shop confirm that the radio was installed correctly but he was puzzled by the lights not working also and could not help.
There were three connectors in the back of the old radio that I removed. One of the connectors is the connector for the radio/power/speakers. The small connector had only two wires, a red and a black, if I remember correctly (I'm positive of the red).
I've looked in Chilton's and I think that this red wire may be a wire that terminates in this type of radio and has something to do with the instrument lights but I can't tell for certain. Has anyone had this problem? Can anyone help? I've tried everything that I know to do, including a lot of searches on this site and others.
Thanks,
Jolly
