Im new to this thread, I have just traded for my now 3rd explorer. Its an 02 limited V8 4x4. Although it does have high mileage at 194k, its in excellent shape and runs great so I couldnt pass up the deal. The day I got it the overdrive light was flashing and check transmission coming up on the message center. I used my code reader and came up with 4 codes. P0743, 0750, 0755, and 1740. The tranny shifts fine besides a hard downshift when coming to stops. Feels like 2nd-1st I believe. I was wondering what I should do...not sure if tranny fluid has ever been changed so a little scared of changing and screwing something up but looks like I dont have a choice. Looking at possibly having to change out the solenoid pack? Any other ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would check all electrical connections at the transmission and clear the codes, redrive it until the problem reoccurs and then recheck the codes and see what came back. Those codes can all be electrical and with multiple electrical codes for different electrical components it tends to lean towards connection problems.

The downshift bump is most likely due to the codes and the computer entering a fail safe mode and raising the line pressure as a precaution. The bump should go away once you take care of why the codes are being set.
