Hey , I'm new to this site so I apologies if I post this n the wrong area , I'm goin crazy b/c I cant find info and I'm almoat out of time , my 99 4.0 L sohc explorer 4x4 acted up Friday the torque converter wouldn't unlock after getting off the highway so the truck stalled ! I cut the wire to the tcc soleniod so I could get home ! Napa gave me the wrong part. And now its Sunday and I can't find the right part . I just want someone to confirm that the the tcc is the one on the driverside closest to the front of the transmission . There's four n a row on that side . I need some advice please I need to get this part asap , I've gotta work all week . Help

Welcome aboard! You'll want to go over to the transmission forum or the stock 1995-2001 forum

Yes it is the one on the driver side closest to the engine, it has a separate mounting bracket none of the rest do. However if cutting the wire to the TC solenoid stopped the torque converter from locking, it sounds more like a shorted wire, computer (negative) side of the solenoid, if the solenoid was stuck open cutting the wire shouldn't have done anything.
