I have a 02 Eddie Bauer Edition 4.0 ...when I bought it the head gasket was blown. We picked up the parts and got started. First thing out...timing chain cassette in the back broke as we were removing the cover. Since we knew that we needed to take the engine out to fix that, we went and got a engine hoist and stand. Removed the engine and cleaned it and checked everything well...put back together and reinstalled it into the Transmission etc. We checked the compression and all 6 cylinders are good ....we did wet and dry test.
We replaced the timing chain cassette and also ended up changing the tensioner. After we reinstalled everything and added water and oil, we realized we were still getting water in the oil Drained the oil and checked and if you put water in the radiator it would come out the oil drain plug. So we took the radiator out and checked the water pump and replaced all the gaskets and seals and we are still getting water from the oil drain plug.
There has to be a issue but cant find it. The intake is off and there does not seem to be a crack
