for the 4x4 control module to be affected by a front brake pad replacement?
I have no illumination on the dash at start up and absolutely nothing happens when I turn the 4WD switch. Any vacuum hose issues related?

I can think of nothing in replacing the brakes that would cause issues with the 4WD system. There are no vacuum hoses for the 02 4WD system. You have a live front axle that is engaged all the time. When you are not in 4WD the power to the front axle is disconnected at the transfer case but everything is still spinning.

You need to start with checking the fuses then trouble shoot from there.
