02 XLT Second Row Seating

Question:

Has anyone figured out a way to take the middle seat out of the second row seating and still be able to use the seatbelts?????

For some stupid reason FORD attached the female end of the seatbelt clicker to the middle seat so if you take the middle seat out the other two seats have no where to fasten the seatbelt...

I have a '97 , so I can't answer your questions, however I am curious as to why you would want to do this......

My guess would be install a center console for the second row?

This is the way mine is setup too(in my '95) The buckle is attached to the mounting bracket.

I'm not a fan of that middle seat in the 2nd row. It tilts down but does not flip foward like the rest, and just seems like a pain to me. My mom has a 02 XLT also and that middle seat needs to have more versatility. Are you trying to create captains chairs?

The middle seat though is the only one that is completely bolted down, so there needs to be an anchor for the seatbelts to click into. I'm sure they had good intensions for doing it, but doesn't leave much for modifying it.

The reason I am doing this is that I have two car seats that I am putting in each one of the 2nd row seats... If you want to use the 3rd row seating you have to take a car seat EVERY TIME!!!

I wonder if this was fixed in the 03 04 or 05 models???

I also called ford but still awaiting a reply!!!
