03 Explorer Alarm Issue

Ive searched the forums, while not using a fine tooth comb, i have looked. I cant locate this isuue on here. My stock honk alarm goes off for no reason at random times. Im also having issues with the door ajar and the interior light. I'm assuming it is the door position switches, or whatever they're called. However, i have no clue where these are located on the door or what they look like. They obviously aren't the regular old button type switches like on my 79 bronc, so can i get a little direction? Planning on just replacing them all, assuming they arent $100 a pc that is... A pic would be appreciated, or at least, a detailed description.

Spray your door locks real good with something to clean them such as a good citrus cleaner, brake clean or electrical contact cleaner. Then spray a lubricant (WD40, PB Blaster, CRC, etc.) all inside the lock in every direction. Next open/slam the door several times. This works most of the time to free up a dirty switch. Start with the drivers door as that's the most often used one.

This "may" clear up the alarm issue also. As you can see, it would be a royal PITA to replace the switches on all four doors!

Here is a rear door lock assembly showing the child safety lever, door ajar/dome lamp switch and the ground terminal. The front door lock is similar.

I am having this same issue. While it is helpful to have a pic of the lock assembly showing the switch mounting I would advise NOT to use WD40 anywhere where these is suppose to be lubricant. WD40 is not a lubricant it is a water displacement solvent. As such it attacks oil and grease turning it into a tar like substance. This in turn gums up and "glues" things together. Use WD40 to loosen rusted parts or to keep water off surfaces.

Does any one have a wiring diagram for a 2003 Ford Explorer? Specifially the alarm circuits? I need to troubleshoot why I get this "Door Ajar" warning and need to know where the door open switches go to so I can measure what door is reporting that it is open. I have a cheap Chilton's manual. It shows VERY little useful in this area.

if the pivot points are the issue use white lithium grease on it that stuff is great it gets in deep and lasts long. this is great in the doors since its a pain removing all the panels. if its the electrical connector then use a contact cleaner and then a dielectric grease to prevent corrosion.
