`03 Tranny shudder???

Ok so I've done some searching and I've heard of all the tranny problems.. AFTER I bought the explorer obviously.. I couldnt really find a thread that was similar to the problem I am having. Mine is a `03 Eddie 4x4 with a V8. It feels as if it shudders a little bit when shifting from 2-3 and then sometimes again from 4-5. I have driven vehicles with a slipping tranny and it feels nothing like that, my tranny (knock on wood) feels very responsive. Any help would be appriciated!! A good start is to get the trans fluid changed, making sure that you use Mercon V to replace the old fluid. If the problem persists after that then we can explore other options.

So basically call a shop I can trust and inquire about a tranny flush? Is that a synthetic?? Thanks

Merc V is semi synthetic and has special friction modifiers to help prevent shudder. Some shopt will try and use Merc III and add an additive. While we can argue whether this works to prevent shudder as well as Merc V ... it isn't semi syn. Demand Merc V.... and prepare to pay for it, it is expensive. If after that the shudder is still there we can go from there.

Flush it using MERC V. You should also be in warranty?
