My Ford Shop Manual shows no disassemble/assemble for R & R of water pump. Shows removal of front cover with pump still attached! Under Out of Vehicle, it shows one pic of pump removal, showing where the bolts are located, nothing else.

Does that mean the pump cannot be replaced with engine in vehicle? Would be a first, for me! :thumbdwn: Thanks! imp

Water pump is one of the easiest things to do on these. Top half of fan shroud, fan assembly, belt, hoses on the pump, bolts, and your out. Lot of room with the shroud and fan out of the way.

I have an '05 Ford 2 volume shop manual, it doesn't say much about very basic repairs, perhaps there is an assumption that a dealer mechanic would not need such instructions? I really don't know, and have wondered myself.

I Messed Up!

Thanks, much, guys! Ex04: My book is "2004 Workshop Manual, Explorer/ Mountaineer. The page number you posted, 303-03-1 in my book shows "Engine Cooling Component Location Index", but the page identical to yours is shown on page 303-03-20 in my book.

I somehow missed the indexed section called out for "Engine Cooling".

Somehow I just knew a water pump should pose no real issues. Unless yer doing one on a 460 in an F-700 truck! What a bear that was! imp
