Thanks everyone. We are now a vendor so I can talk more openly.

If anyone has any questions about Lund Racing, just ask away.

How aggressive is your tune? I'd be interested in comparing it to the one I have. I'd have to go in and log the timing but I know it sees 10-11 PSI max.

We will be offering 2 different levels. One will get a very good daily driver with more power and better shifting etc. This will be what I would recommend running all the time, something a non performance person would be fine driving etc.

Then there will be more aggressive tune that is intended for the track and/or max performance. Definitely will see more than 10-11 psi.

Are these going to all be based off 93 octane?

No, not everyone can get 93. So I will have 91 and 93 options. Before we ship, I'll be in touch to ask everyone what they want.

Awesome! Looking forward to checking out the tune.

Ken - will there be an option to purchase both levels and user select between the two? IE load up a track tune for the night/weekend and pull back to a more conservative level for the daily driver duties during the week?

Would it be ok to run on the more aggressive mod for daily driving?

Both good questions above.. I am curious as well. Wife drives the EX 90% of the time and will kick it in the ass for a couple seconds getting on the on ramp, etc, but overall is a conservative / speed limit driver..

I on the other hand am not.. So, could we keep that aggressive (91 octane here) tune in it all the time since 90% of the time Mrs Daisy is driving it?

What was your trap speed stock? Also, what tune did you do your runs with... performance or your suggested daily driver tune?

Any answer to all the questions or updates to pass on for the orders :D

No need to spend more money. Within reason, once you buy the tuner, I'll give you what you need/want for no extra charge. This includes changes for an off road pipe etc.
And yes, you can switch between them.

I do and I really don't see an issue with it. But keep in mind that it's fairly aggressive and I get rid of the torque steer limiting on the aggressive tune, so if someone drives the truck that isn't ready for it, it might scare them. lol

95 MPH stock. The 13.5 run was on a very early version of the tune. Probably in the realm of the aggressive tune but I expect the aggressive tune to go quicker now. I have been working on this non stop for over a week and have made tremendous progress on all fronts. Obviously it's extremely hot now, but I plan on taking the truck back to the track and running the stock tune, 91 tune and 93 tune back to back to back for a comparison. With the heat, not sure how fast it will go, but the gains are what is important.

Sorry, I have been so engrossed with tuning this thing I haven't done much else!

One other thing to note. All these Ecoboost vehicles, ours included have a really crappy intercooler that is holding us back. So for those that are really focused on the track, a upgraded intercooler will provide huge benefits. I plan on going this route. I can't say who, but I know of a company working on this. They haven't mentioned doing one for the Sport yet but I'm going to push them to do it.

I also have a water/meth kit that I may try. Also, I may do some runs with Torco Accelerator added to the gas which brings it up to over 100 octane. Most octane boosters that you find at Autozone are junk, but the Torco stuff is legit. We use it with good success on high HP Mustangs.

So here is the current plan for those that have an order in.

Tuners are currently being shipped out blank. You have to check the strategy of your vehicle and send that to us. Instructions are included. Once we have that, we will upload your tunes to our server. All you do is plug the tuner into your computer and they will auto download based on your serial number.

I hope to have the truck on the dyno this week for official numbers but with the 4th of July this week, might be early next week. We only have a 2WD dyno so I have to take it over to a friends shop with a 4WD setup.

I already mentioned, but I will also be taking it back to the track for comparison numbers. Stock - 91 - 93 - Octane Booster

Another thing to keep in mind...

I think the tunes you are getting now are awesome. I'm very happy with how the tune drives, shifts, etc. Everything about it. But this is my truck and I'm sure I will continue to improve it. As we make improvements, we will upload new versions of the tunes to our servers. You'll get an email from us that there has been an update. All you do is plug it in, run the update with the included software and it will download the new tunes. Then go reflash the truck. The point here is, this is not a rush tune and will continue to be developed. We are discovering new things everyday to make things better.

If you guys have any questions, it's probably best to ask them here instead of sending me a PM so everyone can benefit.

Thanks,

Ken

Sounds awesome Ken! Can't wait for mine to get here and have been looking to find a local shop where I can do a few dyno pulls.

The intercooler thing is funny because so many people keep saying that the intercooler works "too well" which is the issue with stuttering on some ecoboost motors. I never bought into this claim because the factory rarely tends to over engineer that stuff because it equals more $$$'s!

That's about the funniest thing I've ever heard. Too well, not possible!

It's junk

I've seen some new intercoolers offered for the F-150 but not sure the compatibility with the Sport/SHO.

Are you seeing a lot of heat soak and or climbing charge temps on the factory one? Also interested to hear what you think about the factory intake...any real improvements to be found by going CAI or improving airflow from the grill into the box.

I'm really not a fan of the sharp 180 twist in the intake path, but if it's not hurting performance numbers too bad it's not worth all the $$$'ers to fix it.

Heat soak is bad, and temp rise is awful. There really is nothing good about it.

A CAI may help with the tune, we will find out. I'll do that next. I agree the looks of the inlet pipes look bad but I've known of people to change that with no gain.

I'm sure the intercooler is specific to the Sport as it's shoehorned in there.

What about talking to the guys at Killer Chiller. Maybe one of their kits would be the solution to this.

Ken......has your tune resolved the early issue of kicking out of 1st gear in Sand Mode?

Yes, there are no outstanding issues as of now. A killer chiller is for an air to water intercooler. That would be opening a huge can of worms and it would be overkill on something like this.

I've seen the data on the new air to air replacement intercoolers coming and they are the solution. I just hope they decide to do one for the Sport.

I am new to the forum but I have learned a ton from you guys already. Thanks for that!!!

I just picked up my 2014 Explorer Sport!

Ken, will your tune work with the 2014's or do we need to wait for your shop to get their hands on a 2014 before ordering the tune?
