Not comparing apples to apples though. They are running downpipes and exhaust. Of course that's going to make a significant difference. It is impressive how these Sports are responding to mods!

Also to be fair, the 13.02 was by a customer, not our test vehicle. We are releasing this tune today. Not saying they aren't as capable, just want the comparisons to be accurate.

No problem, that's how I like to do it.



Just wanted to talk a bit about our tune update process. Today we will be rolling out all new tunes. But guess what? Any Lund Racing customers won't have to do anything to get them. Later today you will get an email from us to let you know the updates are live, just plug in and update.

This will always happen as we release new updates. You will only receive the update email if it applies to your specific vehicle or tune. In this case, we are updating ALL tunes, so everyone should receive the email.

After this update goes through, I'd like to hear any feedback on how or update process works and any suggestions to make it better. The idea behind my system is to get everyone the update automatically. No need to request it, know we have one or anything.

First off, the AIW tuner is Livernois tuner. That is their brand. Secondly, it seems to be 1000x more useful than an SCT device on a Explorer Sport. At least so far.

To a tuner sure but as a consumer it's far from it.

And for the record, it is not my policy to lock the device, it is the manufacturers. And the manufacturer is neither Lund Racing nor Livernois.

I wasn't implying that it was your policy. However, YOU choose to tune with the device so therefore indirectly it is YOUR policy.

Like everyone said, there are other devices that do allow you to switch around. If that is very important to you, then I suggest you wait on a device that does that.

I'm not going to argue with you about it. If you thing a device that flashes your Explorer and picks up over a second in the 1/4 mile isn't more useful than a device that doesn't work on your Explorer, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

I chose this device for quite a few reasons, one being it has a much better and more robust update process which will make things 10x better for the consumer. The fact that it can't be used on a second vehicle is not important to probably 95% of my customers.

I wasn't referring to those runs. Those got posted late last night. In that same thread there is a link that shows what they did on a Tune, CAI and thermostat which is pretty spot on with the mods on the Lund tune.

As I'm sure most people who have modd'd cars can to attest to, you'll never get the money back you sink into mods. Weigh the cost vs the gain and decide if it's worth it to you.

I can see how this could suck for people who lease or sell every two years, but guess what, you shouldn't be tuning a leased vehicle. I find that to be very unethical myself.

I've not tuned either of the new ones and never tuned a leased one either !

not sure how it's more unethical to tune a lease rather than a purchase that you WILL resell or trade...

Impressive! Glad to see there are enthusiasts buying these things and upgrading them, not just appliance consumers. My wife wants to buy an Explorer (or Audi) in 2014 to replace the Edge. Maybe I can get her into a Sport and still have my fun.

So i'd say they aren't in the same boat at all.

When you lease a vehicle the plan is to return the vehicle with all original parts and in working condition. If I decide to tint my windows or add a CAI for better performance or even add a tune my intention is that everything is safe and the vehicle will not be prematurely worn down.

Ryan, I suppose you will have no Warranty work done because it would be un ethical since you have a tune?

Having a tune doesnt automatically void your warranty.... If the failure/concern can be linked to the aftermarket device/mod then yes your dealer may choose to void your warranty for that specific repair.... But all other aspects of your warranty still hold...

exactly Punisher. twinturbo, the magnuson-moss warranty act covers this and if you haven't read it maybe you should.

like right now i need a TSB done for axle noise, which is nothing to do with a tune. Same if it's a MFT issue. Now you shell out your engine, you gotta pay to play. But if there is a Ford defect like the possible intercooler one, it should still be covered.

Back on topic though.

Got my email update today, and <10 minutes total had my tuner updated and vehicle reflashed. Very quick and easy!

On a down side, i'm getting a recurring code that doesn't trip any CEL's, C1B00
