I want to raise the back end about 1 in to compensate for the sag and give the truck a little more aggressive stance.

I plan on doing a 2in body lift but am holding off on the suspension lift until its paid for.

Suggestions for the most reliable process for 1in in the rear would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steven

I would like to say an add-a-leaf, butthose give you about 2 inches of lift. I think that you could get some longer shackles, and that would give you maybe 1-1.5 or so, not sure about that though, someone else on here that actually has done this may be able to help you more than me.

The warrior shackles give you 1 1/2" lift in the rear.

Steven,
Your really have two choices... If your rear springs feel right and give you the ride you want you should put in the Warrior Shackles. This should give you 1.5" of lift (assuming your current shackles are 5.5" long). If the rear of your truck feels too soft then you should use an add-a-leaf. This will lift the truck but it will also stiffen up the suspension a little (still only 1.5" at most).

Hey Steven,
I know that Tom Wilks had the same problem and he bought a set of shackles from Gerald that came off a j@@p. They weren't quite as long as the warrior shackles but enough to get rid of the slight sag the Tom had on his Explorer. You might ask Tom what kind of shackles they are, or even better, ask him if he wants to sell his, since he just bought the new Old Man Emu 2" lifted springs and shocks. Just a thought. :)

I think I am going with the warrior shackles. I want to leave the leaf springs alone for now until I decide to do the zimmerman conversion.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge here, Warrior Shackles, is that a brand name? I cant seem to find them anywhere.

Also, I could have sworn that there were directions on the zimmerman conversion on this site. I cant find them now. Was I dreaming?

Thanks

Steven

Here is their web address. I had my local 4x4 shop order them and got them next day. About $38 or so if memory serves. However, they only list a shackle for '96 and up Explorer.

zimmerman mod

ntrpriz,
this is the Zimmerman mod:

We cut the eyes off of the stock Explorer spring pack and put the main leaf from the Ranger on top (gave us more than 2" more drop travel and more up travel for $65).

It is where there Explorer is on the main page.
