Okay guys and gals, I think I've narrowed it down to two options on subs, I'm debating between the coveted JL Audio 10W7, or one of the new 12W6 V2's... Supposedly the new V6 has a lot of the same technology as the W7, just not the power handling that the W7 has, and they look almost the same... I couldn't get a good feel for the W6 at the audio store because they had it in a wall mount with WAY to much air space... I have heard the 12W7 and they pound like mad... I'm not going for competition system here, but I do want quality... I've had both 10s and 12s in the past and lean a bit more toward 12s... But I'm always willing to listen to opinions, and I still want to find a place where I can hear them both perform well...

So what do you thing??? Oh yes and the chosen amp to run either sub is the JL Audio 500/1 it looks like... This will be a single sub only set up...

I'm gettin two JL 12W3s tomorrow and the 500/1 amp... i'll let ya know how it sounds!!!

That is a tough decision. But, on the basis that the W7 is just insane, I think you should get the 10W7 and push it at peak power. I think that would be the best decision for you to make.

W7 all the way man even if they are 10s, two of them will out power the hell out of all single 12's (cept the W7 12s). 500/1 for each would do the trick :) .... DOO IT!

I would go with the W7, but go with a 1000/1 amp! Or another brand amp with same power!

Im running one 10" w7 with a JL 500/1 amp! Pounds like crazy, but i wish i would have gone full power. ;)

uhhhh....ok

So you think 2 10W7s will beat any single 12 as long as its not another w7???? That is the absolute most close-minded comment I've heard in my life.

Heath~~~

Personally...if you are going to give them the same power...go with the bigger sub. I would say go with the W6. Depending on the install(box) you will probably find that the 12 will be able to play more of the lower notes.

Do you know what type of install you are going to do? Sealed? Ported? What size box? If ported...what will the box be tuned to?

I'm not sure which enclosure I'll go with yet (sealed or ported), but we're going to build out from the right side rear of the truck where most of the stealth boxes go. It won't be stealth but at least it won't be obvious either.

How do you like theos L7s, they were one of the other options that I was thinking about, but I'm leaning more toward the JL Audios, mainly because I can't find a place here to listen to the L7s... The guy that does all of my work is a Kicker fan and says that they kick butt, but that the JL stuff is great too... I think he's running Solo's in his car right now...

I love my L7s...which is why in January I will be adding 2 more along with another 1000D.

Believe me when I say this...these things get LOUD. Even when I had them in the sealed box they were loud.

I doubt I will ever buy another sub that is not square...

if you dont like the comment then, think whatever you want to yourself. Its my opinion and if you do not like it then too bad, if you do not wanna start fights then do not post crap like that to people you know who will respond. And yes I am pretty damn sure two W7 10s can pound harder then just about any single 12. I am not trying to start crap with you, but if you want to give me crap about a little comment then.... damn.

They do noy make a Jl Audio 1200.1 and if they did then it would be more like 1100 bucks instead of 258. Jl Audio only makes 1000/1 as the highest and they start at 900 bucks.

Please....I don't care about starting flame wars...especially when its over a stupid comment. W7s are good subs...I am not doubting their integrity...but you must remember there are subs out there that will take twice...3 times...and 4 times the amount of power that a 10w7 will easily.

Unless you are really set on JL Audio, I would say go shop around more and listen to as many different brands as possible. There are tons of really high quality subs out there. I have a single Audiobahn 10 and I love it. Nobody believes that it is just one 10, well, at least when my amp worked. Anyway, if I was to pick between the two options, I would say the single 10W7 with a lot of power in a big ported box. It will have great SQ and a tremendous amount of SPL for a single ten.

Sorry Roadenforcer i meant to type jbl i posted the link. As far as two w7s beating a single 12 seriously you cant even say that cause you are not factoring in box, amps, wiring, batteries, altenators, shall i go on. Just cause you have 2 doesnt mean one cant do just as good. Now if you just compare off the rms v. rms speaker wise ok.....but most people never get amps that even match the rms of the sub ie. You By no means am i trying to dog you im just trying to show you there is more to it than just a Sub.
