Just got my new radar detector and can't use the damn thing because none of my 12V plugs work!

What's going on??

Edit: blown fuse in radar detector powercord.

Blown 3 more fuses already in the detectors powercord. Weird.

Have you tried plugging it in a different outlet in the Ex.? If so and fuse still blows, do you have another vehicle you can try it in? This may help to get an idea of where the problem may be. Outlets or detector.

Unfortunately the wife is out of town and I have no way to check in her vehicle.

The powercord that came with the detector has blown 3 fuses total. 2 in the center console armrest plug and 1 in the media tray under the stereo controls.

Then 12v is not for that device?
Check the device stats or the label on the device-does it show input and output voltages?

Try plugging the cord in without the detector plugged into the cord. If you still blow fuse, you have a short and the cord or the voltage regulator in the cord (many convert 12V to 5V or something along those lines) is bad.

Gotta be the powercord. I tried this and it blew another fuse.

Thanks for the help guys. The radar detector company is sending me a new power cord. We'll see if that works.
