does anyone where i could find a 13000k HID conversion kit. i know they make them cause i saw a pic of comparing 3200k all the way up to 13000k HIDs.

Going that high would give you the purplish blue look, but lighting that would be horrible to drive by, personally I wouldn't go with anything over 6000k.
 






THANK YOU! I have been looking all over for replacment HID bulbs. Looks like i may need to modify my conectors, but that shoulden't be difficult.

My engine compartment is starting to look like spagetti... It will be even worse after i put yet another harness/relay activated by the headlight socket for my roof lights.

hm... they have H3 kits as well, now i wonder how those would work on my Hellas.
 






yea, i see your point 13000 would be crazy. can anyone recommend a good HID KIT (6000k-8000k) then. i can find a bunch of 'em through searching but i dont want to fork out $200-$400 for a kit and it turn out to be a piece.
 






I got mine from a group buy a few years ago. the brand was HID Plus. I got the stage 2 set wich were pretty blue. They feature Phillips lightbulbs, and Hella ballast. It is truly a plug and play kit requiring about 20 minutes instalation and a screwdriver.

Mine have been working fine for 2 years untill last week when my headlight casing was hit while offroading. it cracked the ceramic base the bulb sit in. the bulb didn't go out, but got very, very blue (can we say Barney?).

I am getting a new set of HID bulbs for the Ballast. This time i'm going with 5K temp to better match my non-HID driving lights.

You want Philips/Osram bulbs and Philips/Osram/Hella ballasts.
 






I have what will probably be a dumb question, There are no 9004 kits so how would one go about mounting the bulbs in a 9004 fixture? and will these melt my lense?

Yes there are 9004 kits... They won't melt your lense.
 






From what I understand you also need a shield for the bulb in a 9004 application or else it will be a glare monster and everyone will flash you. Or your lights have to be pointed so low it isnt worth it.
 






I've heard the same thing, that's why I went with projectors. D2R bulbs have shields but they wouldn't fit a 9004 application.
 






A true 13000K spectral peak would shift the emission bands to shorter wavelengths requiring more of a UV shroud to prevent transmission of harmful radiation (to both people and materials). When Sylvania originally came up with the HID for automotive applications it was based upon the optimum response of the human eye at night (Rothwell et. al). Anything further into the UV becomes a waste of energy and requires more effort for shielding. For some excitement try getting near an unshrouded HID source, sunburn and a bad taste in your mouth from the ozone, both generally not good for your health.

In short nothing to be gained over a standard HID for the human eye and quite a few negative consequences.
