15"s on Eddie Bauer.

Hello all. I just picked up a '97 Eddie Bauer to replace my '97 xlt and had a question. The Eddie Bauer has 16" wheels but I planned on using my wheels and tires from my xlt since they have under 1000 miles on them. Does anyone know if there's clearance issues with this, or were the 16" put there for cosmetic reasons?

I am running 15's. Was in the same boat. New tires with only 5000 miles from my first gen. No issues at all.
