yes, they will fit. but you need adapters to give your explorer a front drive offset. a set of four adapters usually cost about $125.

I wouldn't put a 7" wide rim on .... If your goin' for the lowered look you'll want atleast a 245-50-16 tire ... Plus the fwd. offset would require an average of 1.5 " (not safe) spacer to look right . My friend has a lowered S-10 w/ 17x7 fwd. offset & 205- 40 17's It looks like he's ridin' on 4 bicycle whls. WE laugh at him everyday . My Personal opion ....

I havnt run across any fwd wheeles that have the same bolt pattern as the X.
I would sure try them on before you buy.
There are a lot of 16" wheeles out there that will fit.
IMO you want to keep at least 29" OD on the tires to make the lowering noticiable. Thats what I did...

hi guys im new here but been reading forums for a while. i also have a set of 16x7 rims. figured out they came from a 2004 freestar even tho the excop i bought them from said they came from a crown vic. i have a ranger which is almost exact to a exploder and heres what i found. the freestar rims are fwd offset(40mm offset with almost 5 in backspacing). that means the mounting surface is pushed to the outside of the wheel.and the ranger has almost no offset and a 4in backspacing with 20mm offset and 3-4in backspacing give or take. that to me seems close enough but i havent had the chance to remove a wheel and find out. any expert advice given the new info would really help since the 14s on my truck are puny and the 15in ones from my old 91? ex would be bigger(better?). i would like to put 17s on it but cash is tight and the 16s cost $100 and the 15s were about 45 (to replace one i lost in a move). gonna try and put up a pic of both rims now

Got a 94 XLT Explorer with 16" wheels from a 2002 or 2004 Explorer. The tires and rim rub when making u-turns and look a bit sucked into the wheel wells. Can someone tell me the offset of the standard 94 XLT Aluminum 15" wheel and the offset of the 16" 2002/2004 16" Aluminum wheel so I know how thick an adapter I need to get stability back to stock?
