I wanna get some rims for my 00 XLT and seeing that there are some X's w/Mustang like mods I thought I could do mine kinda like a Harley Davidson thing what you guys think? will the rims fit my truck? the specs state that the wheels have a 5x135mm lug pattern... is this the same pattern for our X's? any help will be greately appreciated!

Thanks! :burnout:

No, F-150 are 5x5.5, Exploeres are 5x4.5 bolt pattern.

is there any way to make them fit or is the wheel just too big for an X?

Bolt pattern's just too big. You can't change that. Shop around for Mustang wheels with +24 offsets.

Liberty wheels fit but have some crazy offsets. Rangers fit as well but don't know what kind offsets those have.

thanks very much to you all for your advise... I guess I will have to keep looking for something else... I was just trying to be different you know... I see saleen X's and X's w/Cobra wheels and all of that... I just wanted something different... anyway... I'll keep looking, THANKS GUYS! :banghead:

You want something different? Check out Centerlines Wheels. They're great looking with awesome price but yet to see one on an Explorer. Also, if you got $1750 to spend, check out the for sale forum section. Hartman's got a rare one on sale.

the later model lightnings and f-150 are a metric bolt pattern .... previous model were 5 on 5.5

all wheels are ordered in metric sizes.. Ranger/Explorer are 5X4.5 which is exactly the same 5X114.3mm..

5 x 4.5 is 5x114.3mm but then why would most of the catalogs list most of the rear wheel drive cars in inches and the front wheel cars in mm

all the rims i ordered in the last few years were not in metric ... i have ordered them from jegs, summit, circle racing wheels and diamond racing wheels and on the shipping reciept it did say 5 x 4.5" ....

Doesn't mean that the metric size isn't the same as the standard size.. I have a set of lexus GS430 wheels on my ranger which if you look them up is 5X114.3 .. However that same metric pattern is exactly the same as 5X4.5

Why does it say 5X4.5 on your receipt.. I don't know.. We live in the USA and we are resiliant to change.. Why you think it took so long for american cars to change from standard size bolts to metric.. Cause people didn't want to buy new tools I guess.. However 5X114.3mm is the exact same as 5X4.5"

why not get wheel adapters then if you really want them?? they cost like $125 a pair for good strong ones but people use them all the time on here for when they do SAS's to dana 44's with that pattern. What you would need is an adapter to go from 4.5 to 5.5(if thats what the rim is)

yeah I was thinking about the wheel adapters but I didnt know if that was an option or not... still will that mess up my suspension or anything like that? will my drive quality deteriorate or anything? I appreciate your advise!

what are you overall trying to do?

If you want to just put them on than adapters will work for you. I have a set of adapters on my ranger and have driven with them on for over 2 years of continous use (till I got the X in may) and have had no problems.

If you want the wheels to fit inside the wheelwells it ain't going to happen with adapters. I would look into getting a different set of wheels to do something like that. Think of it this way. The smallest adter you are going to find is about 1" maybee a little bigger. However that adapter is going to push your wheels another inch out away from the inside of your truck. When you put adapters on you increase the track width unless you have a rim with a FWD type offset which Harley wheels don't.

so pretty much what you're saying is that the wheels will look a little whack! right? lol like if they're 20x9 or something they will look as if they were 20x10 but missing one inch wheel... right?

yeah basically I just want a different truck bro, like you know all these people got their saleen and mustang like X's well pretty much I want a Harley looking X! thats all... what you think?

what i would do is check the back spacing on the harley rims them check the back spacing on the explorer rims and see how much clearance you have inward .... remember that you will need at least 2" clearnce on your rear springs, the tires side wall will flex that much in hard cornering .... om the front check for clearance lock to lock .... i want to put lightning rims on my x when the tire wear out
