Happens with old age. Sounds like it's time to rebuild, or replace the wheel cylinders and calipers. Sticky caliper slide pins could also be the culprit: http://www.explorer4x4.com/tips2.html#caliper I would replace the drum brake hardware at the same time. It's cheap, and will give you all new springs.
yep pretty much, sound like a brake job is in order, not to hard to rebuild your calipers either. rear might need new wheel cylinders but that isn't rocket science either. good luck
