Got a 1991 4x4. Last night the clutch wouldnt release and would not go into gear. Figured it was the slave. Pulled it out this morning and it looks like it had been leaking. Clutch and pressure plate look fine. Threw another slave on it and put it back together.

Hold the clutch in and start it and it will go into all gears fine and release. Let out on the clutch and push it back in again and it will not release and will not go into gear.

Let it warm up and the idle drop down and it will release and go into all gears fine. Give it a little gas to get rpms above 1000 and it will not release or go into gear.

Ive tried bleeding and everything i could think of. Dont know what it is. Give me some ideas here. To me it just seems like there is still air in it.

For future reference.

Finally got it figured out. Afte I put in a new slave, bled it everyway possible and evern swapped out the master cylinder with the one in the Ranger is all did the same thing. Wouldnt release until it idled down.

So I narrowed it down to the clutch or pressure plate.

Got a new clutch and pressure plate today and they did the trick. There is not visually wrong or broke with either the old pressure plate or disc so Im not real sure what the problem was.
