I just found a 92 explorer for really cheap, I was gonna use it for a parts truck for my 96 is it worth it, are the parts compatible? Just figured I would ask you guys-----Thanks, Jack

The basic framework of the body and bare engine block seems the same but almost everything else changed. I think the doors and glass will work but thats about it. It's not a good match.

Oh, ok, so the t case and tranny and diff's are all different? That is the stuff that I am most concerned about. I guess I will look for something a bit closer to the year of my own----Jack

you need a 95-01 explorer

the Gen I truck (91-94) has a beam front end, your 96 is IFS

your 96 rear axle is disc brake the 92 is drum

front diffs are different

rear diffs are similar (8.8 31 spline)

the trans from a 92 will only go into a 96 if they are both 5 speed, automatics will not
t case MIGHT work, if that 92 has a BW1354 MANUAL t case then you might very well indeed want the t case

That question is a bit more specific. As far as physical dementions go It Should bolt up The trouble is with the electronics and details. The speed sensor data going to the pcm could be an issue for instance. I think a lot of time would be spent making minor modifications. It might make your head hurt.

also its working BACKWARDS

96 parts are stronger then 92 parts in oh so many ways
best part on a 92 sploder would be the manual t case, anything else= keep looking!!

The axels are thicker too. I wish some of you guys were down here in Jacksonville for a day. There are junk yards here that make it seem like christmass only 75 degrees.

Fortune, there not exploders. Ok. One bad set of firestone tires and you can't rent a u-haul.

All the emissions is different. OBDI/EECIV vs. OBDII.
