1992 Ford Explorer XLT
Does anyone know the specific specs of the 2WD 92 Explorer XLT with the Mazda 5spd? I already have the basic, 40l OVH V6 245cid, 3.73 Limited Slip Differential Traction Lok & that it has a Mazda M5R2-C Manual transmission.

Yeah, misspelling error on my part. Anything that is not covered in the spec information sheet of this site. Im sure im missing some information, but I dont know what for sure. Ive been on so many different sites looking for all the information I can find & ive noticed thst several do not have the same info. I also cant seem to find very much for the 2wd xlt. im in the process of getting my xlt back into running form since the last piece of **** owner ran it down & ruined alot. I have already replaced the radiator because it crack. While I did that I found out I had 2 replace the water pump & hoses because the pos used so much rvt on the pump it clogged & ruined alot.

You will want to look into the heater core too, if there was that much wrong, the heater core could be jammed up. Fortunately it is a $25 part, 4 bolts, and 10-20 min to change.

One thing that you need to be aware of is you have a 92, the 91-92 models had horrible cylinder heads they crack there is nothing you can do about it. Although pretty much all the factory explorer heads are junk.

I myself have the same setup 92,2wd, 5 spd and I am in the process of changing the heads just as soon as the parts arrive.

If you ever do need cylinder heads, Clearwater is the place, mine cost $438 shipped (I got a discount for being military). The normal price is $480 shipped. The heads from these guys are an updated casting, all the weak spots fixed, and a 5 yr warranty.
