:feedback:HI! First post so if I'm doing something wrong, just let me know...

Let me start by saying I did search on this problem however I am not a car buff by any means...and to be honest you all might be speaking Greek for all I know...so please excuse me...(wanna talk real estate appraisals? I'm your woman!)

So..my 1994 Eddie Bauer is about to be sold..but..the driver door won't lock, tried manually, with the key and by pushing the button..nothing. It started out that it would lock but you couldn't open it from the outside with the key.
Now nothing works..the lock just doesn't work.

If I lock the car with the button and you open the driver door from the outside it sets off the antitheft.

Please, in English so a layperson could understand...what do I need to do - NO make that what do I need to have done (no way would I try this)to fix this problem??? I've been advised to sell it as is but to be honest I wouldn't buy it like this and I don't want anyone else to do so either.

I really appreciate the advise, truly! I'm blonde but not stupid and I just don't have the time (I'm moving to Texas in 2 weeks) to figure this out by myself.

Thanks in advance! Alisa

There are some plastic clips that are used to secure the lock rods to the door latch, lock cylinder and lock/unlock knob. They break over time, and no longer secure the rods to the lock.

There are 3 rods in all. And 3 or 4 clips. They are available NEW for about $6 for all of them. They are found in the 'HELP' section of your local Auto Parts store.

This is a SIMPLE job, but I wouldn't take it to the dealer. I would have a friend that knows a lot about cars do it.

I don't want to hijack your thread but I think your questions been answered.... so....

Hum.... There is a house around here I was looking at, They are using Williams Reality but it's not listed in our local home finder's. Do you think it's sat so long they pulled it from the home finder for a few months and will put it back in later so it looks like a fresh house for sale?

I'm guessing... Ranch style home, With attached one or two car garage with room to build another garage with a lift :p: Maybe 3 bedroom 2 bath. Needs some work. I'm guessing without knowing the amount of property it's between $80k and $60k. But then again $100 is out of my price range :D

I'm just curious as to why it's no longer listed but still has the signs up. :(

I think I'm going to go flush my radiator and hope my leaks don't get worse. Nothing worse then a water filled radiator when the temps will be below freezing soon :(

Thanks so much for the advice. I"ll get my son to take a look at it.
You're great!

Alisa

Okay, now I am in California so I must say that I don't know your area at all!
I can't say for sure why they might have pulled it but I suspect that you are correct that they want to relist it as a fresh listing. In most multiple listing services they have to have a 30 day period off the market before it is classified as a new listing.

Many times this happens because a house that appears to be a new listing will generate more interest. It could also be that it was a short sale (sellling for less than what was owed on it) and that it is now going into foreclosure. If that is the case it will be back on the market in the future.

The signs may still be up because the service the realtor uses to place and pull signs has not been by to collect them yet..or...well, it's hard to say why.

Again, please keep in mind I don't know your market...

Hope your radiator flushing went well..grin...

Thank you for the insight on this off topic subject :)

By the way I decided not to flush my radiator because I'm scared it will leak worse then it already does to a point where I would be forced to park it until next month :(

Planning on purchasing an all aluminum radiator asap.... next month most likely

No Problem! :)

I saw your car photos...was anyone in that car when it was wrecked..well, anyone who lived, I should ask? What's the story on that...?
sorry if I'm being nosey.

AND a question..I need to sell my Explorer..it is an Eddie Bauer, towing package, moon roof, leathers seats (although not in good shape) and 95,500 miles on it...

Any idea what a good/fair price would be? with the door lock fixed..without the door lock fixed? I am in California.

Thanks!
Alisa

I found the pictures to that brand new Mustang GT from a google search. From what I read everyone walked away.... The dealer let some teenagers test drive it without him going with them. So he most likely walked to an unemployment line.

Speed O showed over 100MPH at the time of the crash. They were really lucky.

As for a free appraisal, I would say $2,800 fair market value. Mine's a little beat up and KBB.com said it's worth "private retail value and fair condition" at $2,200 which I don't think I could get $1,000 out of it with gas prices and this economy.

If you were an elite member you could post a thread in the for sale section. I would have one for parts but not my explorer if I had the money to become an elite member. Maybe next month :D

edit: Nosey is fine with me, My life is an open book. I just removed the personal information from my website a while back. Don't know who knows where I live now... maybe time to move :shifty_ey

It turns out I worried for nothing... I sold the car today!!! And the guy didn't mind about the door...

Thanks again!

He probably didn't mind, as he knew it would be an easy fix.

Good deal...

Now maybe AlisaM will use that money to buy a newer explorer so she can come back to visit us :p:

I'm looking at 3 more right now, Just have to wait till next month before I have any money :(

Here is the official story on that mustang btw.

The Five Star Safety Rating was given to the 2010 Ford Mustang GT for various safety features found on the car and here is one example of how three 19-year-olds tested out the rating first hand. The story goes three 19-year-olds were given the keys to a 2010 Mustang GT to test drive. Sometime during the test drive the driver crashed the brand new Mustang GT with one of the occupants being ejected from the car. All three teens were not wearing their seat belts and somehow managed to survive the crash with minor bumps and bruises. What's more amazing is how badly damaged the new Mustang GT is in the photos and all three teens walked away from the crash. Most of the damage to the Mustang is concentrated toward the front end of the car and the cab is still pretty much intact. This is definitely evidence the new Mustang and it's Five Star Safety Rating are well deserved.

When you look at the photos below check out the one with the MPH gauge and how it's stuck on 100 mph, were they going that fast when the car crashed. Check out all the photos below.
