Roughly six months ago, I was having difficulty starting my explorer. I traced it back to the fuel pump. Replaced the fuel pump, and everything worked fine. Except for the fact that I had to replace the fuel pump relay 2 times in a matter of a week, so the fuel pump would kick in. After doing that 4 months went by with no problems. Then all of a sudden the last two months you have to tap on the power distribution box from time to time while cranking over the motor to get the truck to start. And if that's not bad the truck has just recently started to stall when driving as if the ignition was turned off. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Last year I had an intermittent no start on my '92. Traced the fuel pump circuit with a voltmeter and a wiring diagram and found that there was a loose connection between the fuse and the relay. Replaced that wire and haven't had a problem since.

Having replaced the relay already, and tapping on the box seems to wake it up suggests to me that you also could have a loose connection somewhere.
