Trying to locate a 1994 Explorer air conditioning compressor relief valve (low side). It is the valve located on the left side of this photo. Have had no luck, seems the high side valve is available and cannot find the low side valve. The original one is leaking. Can anyone help, Please.

Low port should be by the heater box and ac canister, not at the back of the compressor

Passenger side under the hood near the heater
Blower motor

Thank You for your response. Not looking for a port. This discussion is about locating a Low Side pressure relief valve. The back of the compressor manifold has 2. The one in front on the photo, is the low side valve, and the one in the background is the high pressure valve (that one is available).

You can find 1 at a junkyard rather easily
You can also remove yours disassemble it clean it and put it back together
I was able to take mine apart anyway

It’s the gold thing in your picture on back of compressor manifold right at the base of the low side hose

Thanks to all that have responded. Still have been unable to locate the low side relief valve. None of the links show that they fit a 1994 explorer. Seem to be running out of options. Does anyone have the Ford part number for that valve?

None of these are it?

Maybe obsolete
Why not remove and clean yours?
Junkyard?

Yes, none of them are correct. None of them cross reference to a 1994 explorer (first year they used 134a). The majority of them say for R12. Of course I searched all over the web before posting here with no luck. Even the Ford OEM web pages do not show this valve. Have been unable to find the Ford OEM part number, I believe that would help in my search.

My belief is that the spring for the plunger is worn out and it is popping off at too low of a pressure. This occurred at idle on a 50 degree day without the A/C or defroster on. Heard it hissing and pushed my finger under it and it stopped. So believe it would be futile to get another used valve from a junkyard, most likely same issue will occur.

It would be nice if the descriptions of the valves on google detailed the size and thread of the fitting. Then could find something similar. Finding it hard to believe that this valve is so special. Bet other OEM's use a similar valve.

So decided to order this one and will see if it fits. Advance Auto Parts - Down for Maintenance
