My '94 xlt 4x4 w/auto trans, had a coolant leak at the intake gasket. When the mechanic made the repair and gave the vehicle back it would not pull itself up a slight grade unless floorboarded. Now it runs a little better after startup but in 1-2 miles of level roadway the check engine light comes on and the engine power diminishes until you floorboard it ,kickdown in lower gear and then it jumps to 55mph. I can't find a code of any sort by using the quick find method of the check engine light, it flashes 1-1-1. Any help is appreciated.

Brooklyn is right - there HAS to be a code if your CEL is on. Have you done both sets of code pulling? There are two tests, even with the paperclip method - the Key On, Engine Off and the Key On, Engine Running. Good luck!
