1994 x 4.0 what should idle be

What should my idle be Its a 1994 4.0 automatic. in drive it just sits below 500. (MOD) Stereo drops volt meter when stopped. How do I get the idle up or should I

mine idles at like 900 when cold and about 500 when at an idle.....if that helps....give or take a little....

I think I've read idle to be around 650 ish in neutral. Will drop a bit once you put it in gear and hold the brake.

i had that problem, along with a slow crank in the morning, i thought my idle was low, turns out my starter had a huge draw when cold and then was fine when warm, also my positive battery cable was bad, it was not making a good connection causing my volt meter to fluctuate when in drive. i replaced the starter and cable with no further problems, im not saying this is your problem, but check your battery cables and cables going into the alternator
