I'm trying to figure out if Ford ever came out with an Explorer Sport with a V8 and/or turbo. Apparently my Google skills are lacking and I'm not looking in the right spot to tell me. I'm in the market to buy a newer model Explorer Sport around 95-01 but, if possible, I'd like one with a V8. 4wd would be nice but not required. So I'm just trying to find out if such a vehicle was ever produced stock.

Unfortunately that is a negative. Only the OHV v6, and the SOHC v6. A v8 from the 4 door does bolt it, and several have done the swap, but it does require good mechanic skills and time to do.

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't produced stock, however I know there has to be a few threads on this forum where people have done a V8 swap into the Sport. The V8 will fit, it's a tight fit, but I can be done. If you wanna go that route of course. I have the V6 OHV. It doesn't have much hp, but it has pretty decent acceleration for the amount it has and it has a lot of low end torque. It's definitely not a speed demon, but it easily gets the job done from point A to point B.

Have you looked up if you can put the DOHC in 2nd gen. Ive been looking to do a V8 swap also but thinking about doing a DOHC swap out of a newer EX if thats possible.

I have a 1998 Sport with the Eaton Supercharger the Sonic67 link point too. I bought the truck with the supercharger installed. It runs really good but is VERY hard on the clutch. I would recommend a V8 and a t-5 swap. Not sure which would fit in it though.

I think Range Rover made a V8 Supercharged "Sport", hell it was even under Fords ownership. Helluva truck.
