14.4 hp? That's a lot. Has anyone used this thing and have feedback on it?

^^ that will actually work out to be a warm air intake, verified if you watch your IAT temps.

The stock intake box works very well to insulated under hood heat from the intake charge. Those are nothing more than under hood open filters which will draw air in from under the hood.

You might experience more MPG's but gain 14 HP is horse poo unless you have headers and exhaust done too..but even then but anyways

All a cold air intake does is get denser air from outside the engine bay. Burns more efficient

Try summit racing

Here's a thread for a V6. Come up with your own "kit"

And a tune. I've got a K&N FIPK on a 4.0 ohv, makes a real pretty noise...not much more. Before I added the FIPK, I drilled the bottom side of the stock air filter housing for better airflow. Couldn't really tell a difference except my billfolder was $240.00 lighter and that cool noise on exceleration. But like I said mines a 4.0.

Should I just do a k&n filter and keep the stock intake?

go for a amsoil filter. after having both, imo amsoil is better. the oil for a k&n loves clogging up maf sensors, and making the check engine light throw a hissy fit

Tests with the "high flow" air filters have shown that the airflow through them may actually be worse than a paper filter, in addition to inferior filtering properties. Why?

While the media itself flows better per square inch, the pleats are much shallower and therefore there's less surface area.

In any case, from personal experience, the simple drop in filters don't yield a noticable change in performance (for better or worse). I've used cold air systems before and they do sound cool but no measurable increase in performance. After years of a cold air intake on my 2000 Sport, I reinstalled the stock airbox.

So, should I stay with the regular stock intake?

The gains are minimal but if you can get it cheap and have the cash go for it. It will have a deeper sound at WOT.

Just get a quality air filter if you do

I dont know if u can make it fit or not, but I swapped out the stock panel filter box on my Tbird for a factory cone filter box out of a 2002 mustang ft. Best of both worlds. Larger cone filter, true cold air intake. Just make sure the mustang air box is getting air from outside the engine bay.
