Are there any cheap motor mods that can be done to the 4.0 ohv motor?

do a search.
you can do the throttle body mod.
you can also do the fuel rail/intake spacer.

also take a look at LD50's mod/build thread.

Are there any good chips out there that would help or no?

most "chips" are fake boxes with a resistor inside to fool the computer into thinking your motor is either cold or lean on fuel. Thus resulting it into forcing more fuel into the engine, making it actually run rich, and thereby giving you some "power". Unless you want to spend 400 bucks on a good chip, don't do it.

yeah id like things that are cheaper, already got quite a bit of money into it, just would feel better with a little more power.

Intake Spacer made from another Fuel Rail lengthens the intake about 3/4". That really helps the torque in the lower RPM range..

Other than that, there aren't many cheap or free things to do...outside of general maintenance....oil change, new plugs and wires, PCV...etc..
