- 1997 Explorer XLT SOHC
Hello, A friend recommended this site for all things Explorer.
My Son just bought His first car(truck) 1997 Explorer XLT 4.0 SOHC,4wd
Truck runs well,124k, body and frame straight. I saw it was a 4.0 but I didn't realize Ford had a SOHC version of the 4.0< Heard some horor stories about timing chains and guides..more on that in My next posting..
Problem is a noise from th front end, driving straight or on turns..I jacke up front end and manually turned each wheel and heard (and felt) a clicking noise..All the cv joints ar good..seems like it is coming from front diff..before I take it apart, has anyone experencied any problems with this type of noise??
Thanks for reading, John
