Hi, I am looking for the front left brake line for my 1997 Ford Explorer Limited AWD. The line has a section of flex hose in the middle for body flex of the vehicle. It also has two different fittings on it. One connects to the flex hose, the other to the ABS unit.

Anyone have advice on where this might be purchased?

Thank you! Scott

You should be able to get this hose at the major auto parts stores. If you feel like paying way too much, go to Ford

I know exactly what you are looking for.
Are you replacing your lines due to corrosion like I did? That part is unavailable anywhere, even Ford. They will tell you what I will...You have to fabricate a brake line and flare one end. Reuse the fitting from the ABS unit. You can bend the line and a shop will do it for you, or buy a flare tool.

Make sure to get AGS polyarmour brake line..they have it at advance and autozone. It bends very easy and will never corrode. I believe the left wheel needs a 5 foot piece (measure the old to be sure an account for the coils below)....

For the flexible line what you do is take a cambells soup can and make 2 or 3 coils in the hard brake line. What do you think they did on older trucks?

Trust me, you don't want that rust gathering crap ford put on these trucks.

Yeah, it's rotted pretty badly. I haven't had any luck finding this part, it seems that Ford, in all of their wisdom, has listed the part as obsolete. And, as I have never had luck making a double flare, I will take your advice in asking a shop to make the flare, using the original fitting for the ABS unit. I can surely bend it myself. I'll look for the AGS polyarmour brake line.

Thank you!
