1999 Mercury Mountaineer with no radio display.

Just purchased a 1999 merc mountaineer for 500.00 bad trans. got trans for 400.00 from junk dealer. truck runs. pics to come. The radio lights does not work is this common with ford and merc? How can I rectify this
