recently bought a 1999 explorer with 275k miles but it has a 2000 motor with 115k miles....clean truck shockingly no rust. its strictly for my train station car. going to have to do basic tune up and i think clean the IAC and coil pack and plugs. when idling the car idles at 800 then jumps to 1200 then comes back down. when accelerating around 2k rpm the car hesitates and jumps when cruising its fine.
plan on changing
plugs
coolant flush
fuel filter
air filter
iac cleaning
coil pack
oil
rear diff fluid.

dont want to touch the transmission since it has high milage
anything else i need to do for it to run fine

also the two rear doors are stuck closed which ill fix eventually

thanks for all the help lmao

Yes, do a run-up on the parking brake if needed. If 4x4/AWD change transfer case fluid and check vent. Do a run-up on the spare tire system. You can check the coil pack with a meter. Brake flush. Clean throttle body. Clean MAF. Get original equipment spark plugs. Those door handles I have heard are notorious for breaking, get some replacements. Lube the shift linkage. PCV, check that, and your vacuum lines. And instead of being a dip, fill out your goddam vehicle specs, the maintenance on these older rigs is very specific to each engine type. It would be a lot easier to give insight if we knew more.
