1999 XLS Keyless Entry?

Bought a keyfob, and couldn't seem to get it programmed. Did the XLS not offer that tech?

Almost all the XLS have remote entry. Open access panel at rear driver side of cargo area, look forward and see if you have a silver or black box. That is the Remote Access Personality (RAP) module.

if thats the case then why cant i get it programmed? Ive tried a couple different methods and havent had any luck.

I have seen in my experience if you don't have the keypad, you won't have the RAP module, even if you have power locks. AKA your car prob cant take a key fob it lacks RAP module in the rear to program to.

I have a black box with wires plugging into the bottom.
