Hello, has anyone fixed a leaking 1st gen. sunroof? My 93 Limited has developed a larger leak in the last year or two.

The seal around the edge of the sunroof lets too much water pass into the drain channel. The larger amount of water can run over the inner seal when braking hard, or hitting the gas.

Ford has already obsoleted the seal, and I am tired of having water dripping onto my lap. Is there a solution to this that I haven't thought of? If I thought that the hole was the same as the 2nd gen. sunroof, I'd change to the later model.
Thanks for any help,
DonW

have you tried pulling the glass out and cleaning/conditioning the seal?

It is clean, it's just twelve years old. I have a noticeable wind noise that definitely means that the seal has shrunk. A windshield shop has suggested ATF will swell the seal, but I haven't yet tried it. I wish the size matched the later sunroofs.

I'm having the same problem with my 1995 X. I was about to post the same question and then I saw this post. So how can I stop my leak? We just went through a week of hard showers here and it leaked like crazy!

So busy, I am about to pull my two Explorer bodys off. May try the trans fluid first.
