I have searched for this several times in the past and couldn't ever really come up with a conclusion.

I would like to know if 2nd/3rd/whatever generation wheels will fit on the 1st gens with the 4x4 hubs that stick out. I figure the caps would have to be cut out to allow the hub to pass through.

is the actual center bore large enough on the later wheels to let the hub through? not really looking to machine the wheels out.

also if anyone is running this kind of setup and has pictures it would be appreciated if you could post them.

I have a '91 eddie I recently repainted and am just looking to get something different under there. I like some of the later ford wheels and they are easier to find since so many people go for the aftermarkets.

I have been thinking abou this for awhile now. I would like to put some of the newer 2000-2002 16" spoked type rims, similar to those seen on Escapes, on my 91. I know the center caps would need to be trimmed, but I'm worried about rubbing and backspacing.

i have seen MANY people run later rims, they will fit. i would recommend tear drops with a set of open caps for the front form a 97 ranger 4x4...it will look real nice:D or you could always go aftermarket

On my old sport I had 95 explorer tear drop style rims.I just cut the center out with a dremel tool and then I painted the tear drop part the same color as my truck. It turned out real good

Hope this works

2000+ 16"

lonestar, i like those 16" spoked ones too.

Others, Thanks for the info on the tear drops.

well anybody know about the mentioned 2000+ 16" rims?

I guess the big question is how big is the hole in the middle on those wheels?

Maybe somebody that has a set could measure them up for us.....

any big differences in backspaing too?

the rims for the most part are the same i believ... bs should be the same as i think they are still the 7" wide version as well....

i have seen those rims ona first gen 4x4 before, so yes they will fit....but you will either have no caps on front or have to cut holes in them.
