1st Testing of the Explorer Express Kit

I can see someone buying it if they know a lot about them and can take this kit and run with it. If they know the ins and outs and how to get every last drop of power out of it by themselves, then maybe it will be worth it for them.

Gotta remember that the factory reports HP numbers from the flywheel, not the rear wheels. Therefore, a stock truck is not going to get 210 HP at the rear wheels.

I think Brian of Apten got 170 at the wheels with a test Explorer befor chipping it.

for that much money i'd rather buy a used bronco, already has a 5.0 and heavier axles

Let me say this:

Even though I've poured a lot of money into my X and have had a few headaches, I am very happy with it. Even running 33" tires and full offroad gear I'm in the mid 15s for the 1/4 mile. I can accelerate as fast to 45 mph as an 01 Cobra. I can also get more traction than a WRX and keep up with them in most cases.

I'm not trying to say anything other than that the Eaton s/c kits are worth it all things considered. If you want your X to be quick and still very reliable, get one of these kits. I don't think there's any other option out there other than a great and cheap 5.0 swap to do this.

With drag slicks or at least stock sized tires, my truck could easily get into the 14s. An s/c'ed SOHC should at least be able to do that.
