I would like some input on where some of you have mounted your gauges on a 1st gen Explorer OTHER than on the A Pillar.... Pictures would help me out ALOT!!

I have Autometer Pro Comp Ultra lite oil pressure gauge and a Vacuum gauge I'd like to mount.

Beside the a pillar you could mount them on the steering colum, or the shelf on the passanger side, or the top of the dash. Or on the bottom part of the dash. Anywhere they will not be in the way. You can get a a piller pod for a ranger from summit & that will work on an X. There's a thread on that somewhere.
I don't have any pics or anything, but that's what you can do. There's not many people with aftermarket gauges.

ive got a dual pod on the pillar

yeah I might just have to put them on the pillar I guess..

I took out my ash tray and intalled the three gauge bracket there, looks good and fits perfect, like it was made for it. I used just the pod on that square metal frame that you put the ashtray in.

you have any pictures of that Minivek?

got a question about this? For anyone with an oil pressure guage... how'd you mount it to the engine? I haven't tried yet, but have always heard aftermarket guages won't work with the 4.0 being as it's german and all.

mine has an aftermarket oil gauge... it was on there when I got it...

I dont have any pictures of it but I have a Overhead Dual Gauge pod for a F150 SuperDuty from Jegs mounted just above the rear view mirror. took a small amount of trimming and the included double sided 3m tape to get it to work. ill try to remember to get pics later.

I have a 3 gauge pod on my dash. It works well, but the problem I have with it is the gauge reflects onto the winshield at night. Just something to think of.. reflection at night.

thats why I want a pillar pod... trying to find one for a 1st gen... they are mounted under the ashtray now but are hard to see on the trail so I wanna move em.... cant put em in the ashtray cuz the cb is there...

I know you said OTHER than a pillar. At first I didnt want a pillar pod but I think it turned out OK. here is a pic of my trans temp gauge. Its a universal pod that I heated up and bent a little. In the future Im thinking of fiberglassing it and painting it.

kabukie..that pod looks good above the rear view.. i like that
lbrlh8r...i had to get a different fitting for my oil pressure gauge because the one came with the gauge was a standard fitting and i needed metric or vice versa.. i cant remember but it was different threads but other than that it was fun.. just unplugged the factory oil sending unit and screw the aftermarket on
